BAUGNIET - I am reseaching the following Manitowoc County surnames
on my father's side: BAUGNIET,
PLANTE/LAPLANT, MCKEOUGH, BONDE, LUMMERDING. I have a lot of
info on most of these names, particularly LUMMERDING and BAUGNIET.
I know that the MCKEOUGH family(from Ireland) lived in/near
Kossuth Twp. The BAUGNIET family(originating in Belgium) resided
primarily in the Mishicot area. I am willing to share what information
I have, and am someone can help me to fill in the blanks. I welcome
a response from anyone who has a connection to any of the above-mentioned

BELL - Searching for descendants of any German families who entered
the US through Charleston, SC in the 1840s and 1850s. It was reported
that a number of families from Germany came first to Charleston, and not
liking it, "went west to Wisconsin." Another thread of evidence suggests
that they might have come to Manitowoc County.

BENZINGER - I am looking for links to my grandmothers family. Josephine Benzinger was the daughter of Joseph Benzinger and Caroline Kuntz (Kunze or Kunz) both of Gremany. Josephine was born on 7 october 1874 in Wisconsin. I found a family in Manitowoc Co Federal Census 1880 that appears to be the the same family. An inquiry to the Vital Records in Madison resulted in no birth certificate found for Josephine. I believe she grew up in Milwaukee as her father worked for the Railroad there in the shops. Josephine married a Mr. Boehn. Her second husband was Charles Danile Hannon my grandfather. They married in El Centro CA 1914. I have found several Kuntz families in Germans to America but to date have not made any firm ties. Can anyone help me? - Steve Hill
BETTS - Aaron Hoag Betts was born 14 March 1822 in New York. We are
trying to find out where in New York (what county and city). He died
4 Jan. 1874 in Cato, Manitowoc co. Wisconsin. We would like to find
the location of the cemetery where he and his wife (Abigail Lovinna Jackson
Betts) are buried. Abigail Lovinna Jackson was born 14 Nov. 1832.
She died 19 Sept. 1881 in Cato, Manitowoc co. WI. We have information
on her parents. Aaron Hoag Betts and Lavinna Jackson married 11 Aug.
1850 at Stockbridge, Calumet co. WI. Any information would be appreciated.

BOGENSCHUTZ - I am trying to fine a listing of my great great grandparents children. Their names were Ignatz Bogenschutz and his wife Fredericka Konstanzer. They are buried in Manitowoc County. There must be census that would list there children. I think maybe 1865 or 1870. I know my grandfather Christian was born in 1849 in New York and they later moved to Manitowoc Co. BRUNMEIER - I am researching my ancestors from Manitowoc, Wi area. Joseph Brunmeier, from Austria, lived in St. Nazianz. Frank Kerscher, from Bavaria, lived in Manitowoc also Kewaunee Co., blacksmith, farmer, made cheese; Anton Vogt, from Prussia, b. abt 1833; Fredericka Witt, all I know about her is that she supposedly conceived my great-grandmother Wilhemina Witt (Minnie) on the boat from Germany, Minnie was Born Dec. 27, 1874 (thanks BETH!) I have found information on the declaration of intent for William Patrick
Crowe through this web site. It seems as though he immigrated in
1867 and was in WI until before 1880. He married Mary Elizabeth Harlow
in a Chilton, WI in 1871. They had several children in WI and 2 may

Fredericka's parents were Michael GUTZ and Gustine KRAUSE. Children were Charles, Fred, and Ottilie (all born in Germany). Charles and Fred both enlisted during the Civil War. DEWERS - I am trying to locate relatives of HEINRICH F DEWERS who drowned 17 May 1899 in Jetzer Lake in the town of Herman at the age of 18 while attending Franklin Mission House. He may have had other relatives of the Dewer family living in Manitowoc or Kiel or Chilton. I have unidentified photos taken by photophers in those three locations. Manitowoc is in Manitowoc Co, Chilton is in Calumet Co and Kiel looks as if it is right on the line of those two counties. Any information about any DEWERS would be greatly appreciated.
