Pine Lake
Waukesha County Wisconsin

Location

St. Peter's is an active cemetery located on the east side of Hwy 83 at the southern village limits at Nelson Drive, North Lake, in the southwest 1/4 of Section 16 Merton Township.

History

The cemetery was established about 1860, before the first church was built. The first church services for St. Peter's Episcopal church were not held in 1867-68. The church was built in 1869. The church closed in 1936 but reopened in 1941. The cemetery is administered by the cemetery committee of the church.

Records

There are cemetery records 1874-date. 1874 is the first burial recorded with the record recopied from an unknown source. There is a chart of the cemetery and the records are available to the public for research with restrictions. Prior permission is required from the family or heirs of a cemetery lot and record.

"All records pertaining to families presently represented in St. Peter's Cemetery or their heirs shall be open for inspection only with their permission and in the presence of the Chairman or a member of the St. Peter's Cemetery Committee. The records shall not be permitted to be removed, loaned or borrowed from the immediate physical presence of any of the above mentioned persons. If none of the above persons are living or if St. Peter's ceases to be an active congregation, all records are the property of the Episcopal Diocese of Milwaukee, and all records will be subjected to those regulations set forth by that body."

The committee will answer mail requests for a search of their records. There is no set fee for a search. If extensive research is requested, an agreed upon fee shall be negotiated.
