Genesee Cemetery
Also known as the Genesee Village Cemetery
Genesee Township
Location
History
This active cemetery was established in 1850. At one time it was known as the Genesee Village Cemetery. The earliest known burial is 1843. There are cemetery records available 1850 to date. There is a plat map of the cemetery and records available to the public. The association does not answer mail requests. From the Waukesha Freeman, April 15, 1915--Thursday evening at 8 p. m. a meeting of the people interested in the Genesee cemetery was held at the school house. A cemetery association was formed and the following officers elected: Mrs. Dell Rhodes, president; Mrs. Geo. C. Weston. vice president; Mrs. Ed. Aitken, secretary; Mrs. H. A. Bowman, treasurer; Mrs. Fred Tinney, trustee.
Social at Genesee
A box social will be given Friday evening at Genesee in the Amusement hall. The proceeds will go toward the building of a fence around the Genesee cemetery and the drilling of a well in the cemetery. Waukesha Daily Freeman | Waukesha, Wisconsin | Wednesday, February 02, 1921 | Page 3

At the Waukesha County Museum there are transcriptions from Tombstones 1843-1938
Tombstone Inscriptions
These inscriptions were compiled from a variety of sources. The entries do not seem to be verified with official records. There appear to be errors in dates and names, they are corrected as they are verified.
