Bark River Cemetery
Merton Township
Waukesha County Wisconsin
Location
This active cemetery is located on the south side of Highway K, at the intersection of Dorn Road, north of the Village of Hartland, Section 15, Merton Township.
History
The first death in the town of Merton was that of Martin Moulster (Molster) in January, 1840. All of the Moulster family are buried at this cemetery, but the stone for Martin no longer remains. The earliest Burials in Merton were also in this cemetery in 1837. Burials of two young men who died in Pewaukee Lake, Delafield Township, Oct. 8, 1837, are in this cemetery.
The cemetery is still active, however the cemetery association is no longer active.
Records
The only known record for the cemetery is a map of the cemetery showing the name of the person in each plot. The records are open to the public for research. Mail requests will be answered at no charge. Please include a self-addressed stamped envelope for your reply.
