History of Baptist Churches

As we find contact information for area churches, we'll be adding them to the list on this page. Please note, this is NOT a list of all the churches in the area. It is a start though.

Churches have been arranged alphabetical. As many of the reformed churches crossed denomination boundries, my best effort was made to cross reference the church names.

I tried to note if a church was defunct or in operation whenever known.

Known Churches

Big Bend Community Baptist

This church is still in operation.

The congregation was organized in July of 1888 with a membership of eleven people. The present and only church was built in 1893. There was an additional built in 1923 and the building was remodeled in 1949.

In 1902 the Free-Will Baptists joined the regular Baptists. They shared pastors for a time with the Free-Will Baptist Church at Prospect Hill, and with churches in Caldwell, Honey Creek, Rochester, and Waterford in Racine and Walworth Counties.RECORDS- at the church there are records of baptisms, marriages, etc. 1902-present. Earlier records were destroyed by a fire.

At the Waukesha County Museum there are clippings and graphics.

Delafield Baptist

This church is defunct.

The number of communicants when this church was in existance was approximately 13, two of whom were deacons.

Eagle Baptist

This church is defunct.
  Established: circa 1870
  Disbanded: circa 1877
  Location: Eagle Village

Irregular services were held at the old District #9 schoolhouse, built about 1850. This building was purchased from the Eagle Methodist Church. Services were attended by students of Morgan park Theological Seminary of Chicago.
