The cemetery is located in Section 14 on South 51st St. & W. Morgan.

History

The United Methodist Church Commission on Archives and History has established a historical museum adjacent to the Memorial United Methodist Church on West Forest Home Road at South 52nd Street. From the pictures it appears to be located in the cemetery.

The Rev. John Lutz came from Ohio to Southeastern Wisconsin in 1840 and helped for a congregation of German immigrants. The church was formally established on Feb. 9, 1841. In the summer of 1848 the men of the congregation built a log church on land donated by Frederick Heglmeyer on the old Janesville Plankroad, now Forest Home. In 1858 the present cream city brick building was constructed and served the congregation until 1929 when the present Memorial Church was erected. Between 1929-1939 the old church building was used as a gymnasium. In 1939 the building was chosen for the Conference History building. In 1963 the building was moved back from Forest Home Ave to its present location, where it housed records, books, pictures, portraits, and other historical pieces.

The church is now used for marriages and special services.
