Covenanter's Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery
Also known as Vernon Reformed Presbyterian
Reformed Presbyterian of Vernon Cemeteyr
Vernon Township
Waukesha County Wisconsin

Location

History

This active cemetery was established in 1845. It was organized as a society in Jun 1847, but the church itself was not established until Oct. 18, 1848. At that time it was the only Reformed Presbyterian Church or Coventanter's Church in Wisconsin.

The congregation purchased land in Section 11 for the church and cemetery from B. Webster. The church was built in 1854. The first burial was William McLeod. The last regular service of the church was in 1920, but it officially dissolved in the late 1930s. The last trustee died in 1968.

The denomination turned the building and land over to the cemetery association with the understanding that it would be restored and that the grounds would still be available for burials.

Records

There are cemetery records 1845-date. There are up-to-date burial plot records and a chart of the cemetery. Records are available to the public for research. Mail requests are answered at no charge. Contact: W237 S4866 Big Bend Road, Waukesha, WI 53186

Actual records of the church 1847-1920 are at the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary, 7418 Penn Avenue, Pittsburg, PA 15208
